Every bed and breakfast is different. At The Bidwell House B&B Inn, we believe in offering a unique experience where guests feel as though they're visiting friends. Our goal is to create a welcoming atmosphere akin to being in a friend's home. However, once you've checked in, the level of interaction is entirely up to you. Whether you prefer quiet mornings or engaging conversations, we respect your choice. Some guests opt for minimal interaction, only joining us for breakfast, while others enjoy frequent interactions throughout the day, forging deeper connections with us or other guests. We don't enforce any rules; instead, we empower you to shape your own experience.
To secure your reservation, you have the option to book directly through our website, bidwellhouse.com, or by calling us at 530-258-3338. However, please be aware that as a bed and breakfast, we do not have a dedicated front desk attendant available around the clock. At times, we may be attending to other guests, tending to rooms, or working in the garden, so it may take us some time to return your call. Your patience is greatly appreciated.
First night deposit is necessary upon making your reservation. For bookings made less than 7 days before your arrival date, full payment is required at the time of reservation.
Our standard check-in time is from 3PM to 6PM.
For arrivals before 3PM: While we typically require time to clean rooms before check-in, feel free to call ahead as we may have your room ready earlier than expected.
For arrivals after 6PM: We can accommodate self check-in for late arrivals, but please arrange this with us in advance. We are not able to check you in after 6PM without prior arrangements.
Because of our small size, cancellations impact us greatly. Here's a quick overview:
• Standard Reservations:
Cancel 7+ days before arrival for a refund minus a $25 fee per room to cover credit card processing fees
Cancellations made within 7 days will be charged in full unless the room is rebooked.
• Holidays, Special Events & Group Bookings (2+ rooms):
Require 30 days’ notice for cancellation.
• 24-Hour Grace Period:
Reservations made at least 72 hours in advance can be canceled within 24 hours with no penalty.
• We do not offer refunds for illness, emergencies, weather, late arrivals, or early departures.
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance.
• If the reservation is made through a third-party website such as Booking.com, Expedia, BedandBreakfast.com, or Airbnb, cancellation policies may differ from our standard cancellation policies.
The Bidwell House has spacious parking lot, ensuring ample room for all our guests' vehicles.
We can arrange for pick up and drop off at the Chester airport.
We are committed to reducing our environmental footprint while ensuring your comfort during your stay. To achieve this goal, we have implemented the following housekeeping policy:
· Reservations for 4 Days or More: Housekeeping service will be provided every fourth day of your stay. This not only conserves water and energy but also minimizes the use of cleaning products, contributing to a healthier environment.
· Reservations for Less than 4 Days: If your reservation is shorter than four days and you require daily housekeeping service, please let us know and we will be delighted to accommodate your request.
· Additional Requests: Should you need extra towels, toiletries, or any other amenities during your stay, please don't hesitate to let us know. We are here to ensure your comfort and satisfaction.
Breakfast is complimentary with your stay and is served every morning from 8:30AM to 9:30AM. Our chef crafts a unique, made-to-order selection each day. Expect a variety of savory dishes, such as French omelets featuring seasonal veggies from our garden, open-face breakfast sandwiches with rye bread, homemade hummus, arugula, and prosciutto, or scrambled eggs with asiago cheese and kale pesto served over homemade bread with a side of bacon. For those with lighter appetites, we offer homemade granola and oatmeal. On weekends, enjoy a touch of indulgence with complimentary mimosas served alongside your breakfast. We strive to accommodate dietary restrictions, but please inform us in advance. Need to depart early? Notify us 24 hours ahead, and we'll gladly prepare a to-go breakfast for you.
Each of our rooms, suites, and the cottage features a private bathroom for the comfort and convenience of our guests.
We offer Wi-Fi access for our guests. Please be aware that as we are situated in a rural area, the signal strength and speed may not match what you're accustomed to at home.
While we would love to see your friends and family, kindly inform us of any changes before your arrival. We will make every effort to accommodate your party, ensuring everyone has a comfortable stay. However, please be aware that we cannot exceed the maximum occupancy limit for each room.
Families with children under the age of 10 can enjoy their stay in either Stover Cottage or The Bidwell Suite. Please note that our standard rooms are not suitable for families with young children.
Stover Cottage is the sole accommodation available for families with pets.
Smoking or vaping is strictly prohibited inside the rooms. We have designated smoking area available outside for your convenience
Every room, with the exception of the Bidwell Suite, is equipped with a smart TV. We offer a variety of online TV channels and complimentary movies, though not all regular channels are available. If you wish to access specific channels, Netflix, or Hulu, please ensure you bring your own username and password from home to watch your favorite shows.
Neither the regular rooms nor the suite are equipped with a fridge. However, we provide a designated communal fridge on the back porch exclusively for our guests' use. The Stover Cottage is the only lodging option featuring a fully equipped kitchen, complete with a fridge.
Coffee makers are not provided in the regular rooms or suites. However, we do offer a Keurig coffee machine in the dining room, available for guest use at all times.
The Stover Cottage is the only accommodation featuring a fully equipped kitchen, which includes a coffee maker for your convenience.
